My dads really busy in the summer with work etc and my mum doesn't want to go on holiday without my dad so my sister and i's 'holiday' is going to stay in Strasbourg, France for a couple of weeks with my older older sister, who lives there. It's cold there and there's no beach. I think the British summer may even be sunnier than there.

I've lost my voice. It's been gone since Friday. I went to school today and found it really awkward with lots of people because communicating is so difficult... It hurts to talk and I just feel pathetic.

I've only had braces since December and they're really fucking up my flute playing.
I'm meant to be preparing for a grade 7 exam in July but i'm actually getting really (if, admittedly, overly) upset by the fact that they're damaging my playing.
Because flute (and all wind instruments, I'm sure) depends hugely on the shape and position of our lips I'm getting an awful sound because these horrible things in my mouth are messing with my lips... ARRRGGGHH! so unbelievably frustrating!
I can still just about play my pieces (though not well at all) but my braces make the high register bloody hard work!!

On the plus side, when you get your braces out you'll have awesome pouting abilities AND your embrasure will be unstoppable

You might get lucky, but all the flute players I know developed one.
Basically where you push the flute into your lower lip pushes it into the braces, after a year or so of doing that regularly and it scars the inside of your lip. Nothing noticeable but (on me at least) there's a lumpy "train track" line from this.

Ah well, as someone once said 'i'll not be forced to compromise my art ..' and so I'll just have to put up with it I suppose !
